Lake Toxaway-Sapphire has a history of its own. Come celebrate with mountain families and topics related to our past; railroad, logging, Lake Toxaway Inn, churches, schools, rural electric, fire department, etc. A meal will be served featuring "old timey food", also music from noon on. Exie Henson, a local novelist, will be the featured speaker.

Sesquicentennial 150th Celebration of Transylvania County
will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011
9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
at the Lake Toxaway Community Center
Please join us for a heritage day of fun, guest speakers, family histories, community and Transylvania County history, antique car show, arts and crafts, an honoring of veteran’s, and barbeque.
Music featuring Alex Rogers and the Shades of Blue Grass; Joe Byers and Smoky Mountain Cut-ups; Eddie Chapman and Carolina Country
Guest speakers will be historic novelist, Exie Wilde Henson presenting “How Dear to My Heart” memories of Lake Toxaway in the 1930’s and 40’s; general manager of the Lake Toxaway Company, David Dew presenting a history of Lucy Armstrong Moltz; and conservationist, Robert Balentine of Southern Highlands Reserve
“Hot off the press”, author Jan Plemmon’s latest book: Upper Transylvania County, NC will be available for $25.00. Also, Exie Henson’s Beyond This Mountain, Mountain Song and others.
